Last night frockOn visited East London to film fashion photographer Imogen Seed shooting the fourth set of images for her ‘Apocalypse’ series. The result, a beautiful (if cold) evening with four brilliantly talented girls, watching a strange kind of ethereal beauty dance around London. Click below to see what we got up to, and read on to see the interview with Imogen, as well as see the stunning final images from the shoot.
Five Minutes with Imogen Seed
What are you up to at the moment?
I’m currently doing my foundation in art and design at the London College of Fashion, and then moving on to study photography at the London College of Communication in September. The whole idea of being at art school is still really surreal to me, I wouldn’t say I’m getting used to it, but I’m definitely loving it.
Can you tell us about the inspiration behind this project?
This whole series is based around the seven seals which lead up the apocalypse in the book of Revelation (note: the final book of the New Testament) . My idea is to do seven shoots, one for each seal, and then choose one image from each shoot, in order to create an editorial for my end of year exhibition. This shoot was for the fourth horseman – Death – represented through paleness.
Do you find that there’s a consistent theme running through your work?
Well, a friend recently told me that all my shoots seem to hint at some form of impending doom. Actually, my last project was based around human horrors, so there might actually be some truth in that…
Where do you see yourself in ten years time?
I’m struggling to see past my deadline date at the moment, so ten years time is quite a struggle! I like the idea of creating something beautiful, something that has a real sense of atmosphere, at every possible opportunity. Atmosphere is one of the most important things for me in my work. It has to make you feel something, otherwise, what’s the point?
Thanks to photographer Imogen Seed, filmmaker Jack Anthony Bowden, make up artist Stephie Hoyle, stylist Villy Kontonikolaki and model Carola Wisny.
